Fender Custom Shop 1960 Stratocaster Journeyman Relic Super Faded Aged Shell Pink

The early 1960s saw some important changes to the Stratocaster, a new neck shape, differently voiced pickups, and all new color options, culminating in a compelling new contemporary look and sound.  As music evolved during this era, so did Leo Fender's finest creation.  The Strat has continued to change over the years, but for many, stepping back to how it was done in the '60's is the way to go.  

The Custom Shop 1960 Stratocaster Journeyman Relic is a fine testament to these innovations, featuring a two-piece select alder body that has been hand-selected to be lightweight, a rock solid quartersawn maple neck with a 60's Oval C neck shape (by far the most popular for Custom Shop Strats), and a 9.5”-radius rosewood fingerboard.  We went with Jumbo 6100 frets on this one to give you a bit "more", and making for easy playing and bending.  While the guitar is a Journeyman Relic, we had the neck given a Heavy Relic treatment, to maximize the "broken in" feel that players love.

Hand-wound ’60s pickups to get the most classic of Strat tones, and a reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup to eliminate hum in positions 2 & 4.  We also chose a special wiring, called the "1/2 Blender Strat" to give it a twist that many players will recognize as a popular modification.  The ½ blender wiring turns the second tone control into a blend pot while the pickup switch is in Position 1 and 2, allowing you to mix the neck pickup in, shaping your tone to precisely match your taste.

As for the color, this isn't just Shell Pink - it's Super Faded Aged Shell Pink.  As the title suggests, the result is a "muted" and faded look that gives the appearance of a guitar that has been aging gracefully for the last 60 years, morphing into an entirely different color of it's own.

Other features include a Custom Shop vintage-style synchronized tremolo, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut and 3-ply Parchment pickguard. Also includes a period correct Custom Shop brown hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.
