Truetone Music is proud to be partnered with the legendary musician and songwriter John Waite in offering instruments out of his collection. Each comes with a signed certificate verifying the authenticity of this instrument; assuring that it has been used on tour, in studio or personally by him. During his years with The Babys, Bad English, and his own acclaimed solo career, various instruments were used and very few have become available, until now.
One of the most storied pieces from his collection is this Godin Acousticaster. It was gifted to John for his 50th birthday by the band Journey. In the years since, it has become one of his primary guitars, including during his time playing with Ringo Starr. There are countless videos and photos of him playing this exact guitar (including some shots we've included in this listing - be sure to check out all of the photos). It truly is a special guitar.
As a bridge between worlds, the Godin Acousticaster combines a variety of electric guitar tones with authentic acoustic sounds. It truly is one of the most versatile guitars out there, which is why John Waite relied on it so much. It has a mahogany body with two generous resonance chambers and a spruce top, which guarantees a warm sound with a wooden acoustic timbre. The electrical sound conversion is done by a Godin GJN1 mini humbucker in neck position and an under saddle transducer in the acoustic style bridge.
This one in particular holds special pedigree, given its history and usage. John Waite has owned it for many years, and just recently decided to part with it. It's in excellent condition, considering how much time it spent on the road - it's obvious that John cared for it. There are a few dings, all small, as seen in the photos. All of the parts are original, and it comes with a hardhsell case. The Certificate of Authenticity, signed by John Waite, is included.
