Taylor Truetone Custom Select guitars are all one-off pieces.  Here we have a stellar 614ce Maple, unlike any other out there.  After admiring the photos, you can read all about it below.

This Taylor Truetone Custom Select 614ce boasts a stunning body made of Maple, paired with a Sitka Spruce top.  We specifically chose this combination while working with Taylor on the design of this guitar.  It yields a warm, played-in sound from the first strum along with maple's highly player-reflective character. Inside, the scalloped V-Class bracing adds volume and sustain that complement the top's extra sweetness and depth.  You get an enhanced, defined tone not normally found on acoustics made of rosewood, mahogany or koa.  Maple has a unique character - it's a harder wood, so you get a snap and precision that's hard to replicate with other woods.  The Sitka Spruce top levels that out, and the result is a guitar that brings a unique flavor to the table.  A wide variety of players can appreciate this wood combination, whether it be for fingerstyle or heavy strumming and everything in between.

The Grand Auditorium Body shape is Taylor’s most well-known and favored design, comfortable and easy to play.  It's big enough to project well but small enough to be comfortable.  The Venetian cutaway makes accessing the upper register quite easy.  This guitar has Taylor's standard carve neck profile, which is slim without being skinny and comfortable to grip for hours.  The neck has a satin finish for smoothness.  Not only that, but it also has Taylor's Action Controlled Neck, for full adjustability.  This design lets you quickly change the string height (action), by turning a small nut inside the soundhole.   A unique feature to this custom build is that we chose Smokey Ebony for the fretboard and peghead overlay - this is something you don't see often, if at all.

The body is accented by Black binding - we didn't want to distract from the grain of the Maple.  It has a beautiful Abalone rosette, which matches the rest of the guitar perfectly.  We chose Mini Diamond inlays for the fretboard to add some character.  Other unique features include Taylor Satin Black tuners, a Firestripe pickguard and Ebony bridge pins with abalone dots (something we've done on all of our Custom Select guitars).

The guitar comes loaded with Taylor's Claria pickup system, and new design that we fell in love with immediately.  It features an under-saddle piezo transducer paired with a proprietary preamp.  It is controlled via three soundhole-mounted dials: Volume, Mid Contour, and Tone.  Developed with touring artists and live sound engineers, the Claria system focuses on delivering a warm, reliable plug-and-play tone. It is designed to avoid the harshness and unwanted frequencies associated with traditional piezo pickups
