Pre Owned 2008 Blankenship Leeds 21 Tube Tremolo Guitar Amplifier Head With 2x12" Cabinet
Here's a rig you don't see every day (or ever). Up for sale is this EL84 based 21 watt Blankenship Leeds 21 head with matching 2x12 cabinet. Roy Blankenship built this beautiful set in 2008. It's been in two private collections since, with a stint here at Truetone in between, and is now back and available.
It’s a boutique replica of a famous (and expensive) 18 watts open-back Marshall from the ‘60s, often referred to as “Mini Bluesbreaker” or “18 watter”. If you're looking for fantastic Marshall tones at lower volumes that won't fall apart in the low end like many 18w circuits, this is a great find. Two channels, 6 knobs. That's all you need with a tone machine like this. As soon as it came back here, we plugged into and were blown away again.
This is touch sensitive amp that reacts quite well to how you use your guitar's volume knob, whether you're going for restrained rhythm sounds or soaring lead lines. You get a bit more power compared to other similar amps, for a bit more headroom and stronger low end. No muddiness here. And of course the tremolo is simply stunning. You may find yourself using it more than you would have thought.
The head and cab are outfitted with super cool purple tolex covering, which has been kept in great shape. There are a few marks and sign of use (it is nearly 20 years old) but we'd still call it excellent. The footswitch is included.
This is a rare find for sure!
