Pre-Owned Gibson Custom Shop 1954 Les Paul Oxblood with OHSC
We've had a ton of amazing Les Paul's here over the years, and every now & then, one that was here makes it way back. When it's something as rare as a Custom Shop '54 Les Paul in Oxblood, we are absolutely thrilled to see it again - and that's the case right here.
Originally sold brand new at Truetone in 2008, the guitar was owned by a collector from then until a few years ago. He wasn't a serious player, so the guitar was barely touched, and it came back to us essentially in the same shape it was when it left. Sometimes we are twice as lucky, when one of these guitars comes back from the original owner and we get to sell it again. And, sometimes thrice! This is one of those occasions. We got it back a few years ago and sold it to another long-time customer and friends of ours. Now it's here again as part of an estate collection. Neither of them really played this guitar - it was bought as to collect and display, so this Les Paul is still in excellent condition. It's been vetted and set up to play perfectly by the techs in our shop. The original hardshell case and certificate of authenticity is included.
This guitar is a great example of the Gibson Custom Shop's craftsmanship and commitment to "getting it right". They nailed the look, feel and sound of an original '54 Les Paul. The color is Oxblood, reminiscent of the famous one Jeff Beck used during the Blow by Blow era. To be clear, this is not the Jeff Beck model - if it were, it would be a lot more! This is the standard Custom Shop '54 Les Paul reissue model, in the right color.
This one gives you all of the feel, tone and vibe you'd expect out of a '54 Les Paul, with the right feel of a '50s rounded neck profile, BurstBucker pickups and wraparound tailpiece. It's a vintage reissue, by the company that does it best.
This guitar is super comfortable to play, and of course the BurstBucker pickups sound amazing. They give you the true, historic tone of an old school Les Paul. Designed to replicate the legendary original 1950s Patent Applied For (PAF) humbuckers, you get clarity and the natural bite that have made these the "go to" choice for so many players. Whether you're playing clean or dirty, they do the trick.
This guitar is in great condition, with some natural signs of use in the finish but nothing major. The very slight finish scratches don't show up in the photos. Setup to play perfectly, this guitar is ready to, complete with the original hardshell case.
This is one of the coolest Les Paul's we've had here, and don't expect it to last long!
